The General Contractor Advantage in Kitchen Remodeling

Upgrading a kitchen or modernizing its layout involves far more than simply hooking up a new sink or dishwasher. Relocating appliances, building center islands, or opening up walls requires structural framing, precise electrical routing for modern appliances, drywall patching, and high-end finish carpentry. Because GreenRun Construction is a full-service General Contractor, our in-house crews manage this entire physical transformation from demolition to the final trim. You avoid the headache of trying to coordinate multiple independent trades just to get your kitchen back online.

Our Technical & Trade Standards

While our team handles the structural, electrical, and finish phases, we bring in our network of trusted, licensed plumbing subcontractors for complex main line rerouting and specialized mechanical connections. You get the security of dedicated trade specialists backed by a single, cohesive team managing the entire project from start to finish.

Kitchen Cabinets and Storage

We specialize in new cabinetry installations—ranging from high-quality pre-manufactured units to custom shop-built cabinets featuring European hinges, soft-closing doors, and custom pull-out shelving. You can purchase your own cabinets for us to install, or we can coordinate custom builds through our local cabinet shop. While refacing is occasionally requested, installing fresh, modern cabinetry almost always delivers a cleaner, more durable, and cost-effective long-term result for your home.

With our experience and efficient practices, you can be cooking in your new kitchen within 4 to 6 weeks after all components have arrived. Call us to schedule a free consultation or schedule an Informational Discovery Call to get your project started!

🍽️✨ Expert Answers to Your Sonoma County Kitchen Remodeling Questions

What types of kitchen remodeling services do you provide in Sonoma County?

GreenRun Construction serves Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Windsor, and surrounding areas with complete kitchen remodeling services. As a fully licensed and insured general contractor, we manage everything from tear-outs to structural updates. Consequently, our services may include installing new flooring, laying custom backsplashes, or replacing countertops. We also update safety lighting and modify walls to open up your living space.

How do kitchen cabinetry choices work, and do you offer cabinet refacing?

To fit your budget, we install pre-manufactured cabinetry or coordinate custom builds with a local cabinet shop. These custom units feature upgrades like soft-close hinges and built-in organizers. Although we can perform cabinet refacing upon request, we rarely recommend it for cost savings. This is because refacing is incredibly meticulous labor with high liability. Therefore, installing fresh, budget-friendly cabinets is usually a better long-term investment that yields a cleaner, more reliable result.

Why are permits required for new kitchen appliances, and what are the electrical code requirements?

Many contractors attempt to bypass building departments by calling appliance replacements a "like-for-like" swap. However, California codes prevent you from legally installing new appliances without updating the electrical infrastructure. Specifically, modern codes require that appliances run on dedicated, AFCI-protected circuits. As a highly skilled, permit-pulling contractor, we ensure all of your electrical runs are fully compliant. This protects your home from serious electrical hazards.

Can my existing electrical panel handle a kitchen remodel, and how do PG&E delays affect the project?

Because modern kitchen appliances require multiple dedicated circuits, upgrading your kitchen often overloads older electrical systems. If your home's main electrical service panel cannot support the new load, we must coordinate a service panel upgrade with PG&E.

Unfortunately, a PG&E panel upgrade can delay a project timeline by months. Because these utility-side reviews are entirely out of our control, we cannot commit to a fixed, long-term labor price indefinitely. Indeed, labor pricing may be subject to adjustment if mobilization is delayed extensively by PG&E.

How do layout planning and material selections work with GreenRun?

Our style, color, and material preferences guide our entire process! For instance, we regularly install premium countertops made from Cambria Quartz, granite, cultured marble, and custom tile. Additionally, our team will help you review all component choices to ensure they are technically compatible.

Note: If your project requires official blueprints, structural wall changes, or interior design, we do not perform those in-house. However, we are happy to connect you with trusted local draftspersons and designers in our network.

How much does a code-compliant kitchen remodel cost in Sonoma County in 2026?

GreenRun Construction is a professional, licensed, and insured general contractor. We play strictly by the rules, pull all necessary building permits, and never cut corners on safety. Because of this commitment, our pricing falls in the mid-to-high tier. For a legal, fully permitted kitchen remodel, realistic starting budgets generally fall into three tiers (usually excluding the client's cost of purchasing appliances):

  • Permitted Code-Compliant Updates (typically $45,000 to $65,000): You do not need to change your layout to trigger code upgrades. Legally pulling permits requires bringing plumbing and electrical up to modern safety standards. This includes installing AFCI protection and dedicated appliance lines.

  • Full Mid-Range Kitchen Remodels (average $65,000 to $100,000): This covers a complete demolition of your space. It may include mid-range cabinetry, new quartz countertops, updated flooring, and layout-preserving appliance installations.

  • Major Structural & Luxury Remodels (starting at $100,000 to $180,000+): These custom projects involve deeper transformations. Consequently, they may include moving structural walls, relocating utility lines, or installing premium custom cabinetry and stone slabs.

Note: Our typical on-site construction window is 4 to 6 weeks from demolition to completion. However, this applies to standard projects where no utility panel upgrades are required. We do not begin demolition until all selected materials physically arrive. As a result, you are displaced from your kitchen for the shortest time possible.
