Complete Building Envelope Protection

True window performance happens behind the frame. High-volume window companies often pop new vinyl directly into aging, compromised openings. At GreenRun Construction, we protect your home from the inside out:

  • Dry-Rot & Frame Inspection: We examine the rough framing for hidden moisture damage before new units are set.

  • Integrated Waterproofing: Custom sill pan flashing and perimeter membranes are tied directly into your home’s weather barrier.

  • Seamless Trim & Siding: We complete the job with custom interior trim and seamless exterior siding or stucco repairs to leave a factory-grade finish.

Beyond Basic Window Swaps: Custom Framing & Layout Changes

Traditional window installers are strictly limited to your existing opening sizes. Because we are a full-service General Contractor, we can modify your home's structure to completely transform your living space:

  • Expand small windows to let in more natural light.

  • Convert standard windows into large sliding glass or French patio doors.

  • Cut and frame brand-new window locations in solid walls.

  • Handle all required structural headers, drywall patching, electrical rerouting, and exterior repairs in-house.

Siding Replacement

Many homeowners decide that it is a good idea to replace the siding on their home at the same time that they replace their windows. As a Sonoma County General Contractor we can replace your siding as well.

❓ Answers to Your Window Replacement Questions

What window brands do you install?

We primarily install high-quality Milgard and Simonton replacement windows due to their superior thermal performance and durability in Northern California climates. However, as a licensed General Contractor, we can also source and install most major window brands chosen by our clients.

How does a General Contractor window installation differ from a quick-swap window company?

High-volume window companies typically perform "insert" or "retrofit" replacements—popping out old glass and dropping new vinyl into aging frames. While GreenRun Construction can do that, we prefer to replace the window and is framing to provide a complete structural integration. We inspect the underlying rough opening, repair any hidden dry-rot or water damage, integrate proper flashing into your home’s weather barrier, and complete all exterior siding and interior trim work.

Can you enlarge, shrink, or create new window openings?

Yes. Because we are a full-service General Contractor, we handle structural framing modifications, header installation, drywall patching, exterior siding/stucco repair, and electrical rerouting required to change window sizes or add new windows to your home.

What happens if dry-rot or water damage is found around my old windows?

Unlike volume installers who may cover up damage or stop work until you hire another party, our in-house carpentry team handles dry-rot repairs, framing replacement, and structural waterproofing immediately as part of your project.

Are building permits required for window replacements in Sonoma County?

Yes, most jurisdictions require a building permit. But building permit or not, window replacements in Sonoma County must comply with California Title 24 energy efficiency standards, egress safety codes for bedrooms, and Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) ignition-resistant requirements where applicable. GreenRun Construction manages the entire plan review and permitting process with your local building department.
